Uttara Kanda tells the story after lord ram returning from exile and the events that unfold afterwards. Ram gives most preference to dharma, equality for all and righteousness. He hears some rumors doing the round that some people of his kingdom have started to criticize rama for bringing back sita to the kingdom even though she was kidnapped by another person. This confuses Rama and he decides once again taking Sita to forest. But upon sita's request, she alone goes away as a king like ram is very necessary for ayodhya. Sita devi gives birth to two sons Lav and kush in the forest where she is staying. Both kids learn through the teaching of Sage Valmiki. There also comes a situation in which lav and kush fight against Ram's army and defeat all of them easily. How these kids reunite with their father and how sita goes back to mother earth forms the rest of this story which also includes the life about other members of ram's family (brothers and others)
